Kids’ parties are always so much fun to put together. Of course, every child who has a party is going to be so proud to show off what his or her mother or father put together for them. That’s why it’s important to have favorite foods for kids at parties. While we may want them to be eating broccoli and carrots, that may not be what they had in mind when they came to the party. That doesn’t mean we can’t throw in some healthy foods along the way though!

Kids don’t enjoy sitting down to a large meal as much as they enjoy finger foods. They are very active and enjoy food items that they can simply carry around and snack on at their leisure. Below are some fun foods that kids tend to enjoy at parties. They are simple to make, kids love them and they can be easily handled throughout the duration of the party.

There are some food items that are guaranteed to be enjoyed by the majority of the population. One of those items is Rice Krispy treats. These are easily made by combining Rice Krispies, melted marshmallows and melted butter in a casserole dish or cake pan. Spread them into a “cake” and allow to cool.

Another great item for a kid’s party is called “Pigs in a Blanket”. These are so simple to make and they can be spiced up as you wish. They are made using small sausages, such as Vienna sausages or small smoked sausages and some ready-to-bake croissant rolls. Separate the croissant roll dough into individual croissants and place the sausages at the top of the triangle. Roll the sausage in the dough so that is are wrapped like a pig in a blanket. Bake according to the instructions on the croissant package.

For a healthy snack, why not “Ants on a Log”? This snack provides protein, fruits and vegetables all in one snack. Simply spread peanut butter on a cut celery stuck, then sprinkle with raisins so that it looks like there are “ants” on the “log”. This is a simple and healthy snack that children can munch on during the party!

Of course, you may also want to have some potato chips and pretzels for the children to snack on, but you can use the snacks above to give them something more filling and fun. Crackers and cheese are also a favorite for kids, but instead of white crackers, why not use wheat crackers? Instead of processed cheese, use 100% real cheese products to give them more dairy than chemicals!

As you are creating your favorite kids’ snacks, don’t forget the drinks! For a really fun and caffeine free party punch, try mixing fruit punch with a caffeine free drink such as Sprite, 7UP or Sierra Mist. And don’t neglect the jello squares for dessert. Make sparkling jello squares by using seltzer water instead of regular water to make your jello, then cool them in ice cube trays. Once the jello sets, pop the cubes out of the tray. Kids can carry them around at their leisure. Remember that the key to fun party snacks lies in making them simple, attractive and easy for kids to handle.
