Credit cards are inventions of convenience which came out of an idea to make money management easier and hassle free. While it has lived up to its true purpose, every one carrying a credit card should be reminded that, as the popular saying goes, “with great power comes great responsibility.” Credit cards have their drawbacks if one is not careful, and this is not only in the case of racking up debt by charging too much, but in being vigilant with hidden charges the card may come with it.

Hidden charges are little things that go unnoticed (hence, hidden), and they can pile up and cost a lot of money if one is not vigilant. Check credit card statements if there are additional fees such as insurance policy on the credit limit, annual fees, statement fees, and taxes. Even if they are small amounts at a per statement basis, they can cause much financial damage if added up together. For example, if the credit card charges about $2.50 per $1000 for insurance credit, and if the balance reaches an average of $5000 per month for year, additional charges total to about $150 a year—an amount that can be placed to pay off debt instead.

At the very moment a person signs up for a credit card, he or she has to be careful of the fine print and read carefully what conditions come with it. Some companies charge for additional services like more frequent statement requests or additional statement copies aside from the annual fees so be careful of these too. Penalty charges for late payments, exceeding credit limit and non-payment of direct debits, and even usage of the card outside country of issue may also vary from card to card, so make sure to get the best deal, or better yet, try to avoid them altogether.

If these fees show up in the credit card statement, don’t be afraid to talk to the credit card company about it, especially if these were unforeseen or if it sounds unfair to the holder. Credit companies can usually reverse these charges if the holder can justify why it needs to be waived. Some charged services can be opt out of—make sure to do this from the very beginning to avoid paying for things that are not really necessary.

The bottom line is, always be vigilant with credit card charges, and always read the fine print before committing to one. Most credit card companies offer come-ons to potential customers by through catchy promotion deals and other marketing gimmicks. An example of this is claiming to waive annual fees, but the fine print reads that this is only for the first year, and for the succeeding years, the holder will be charged. Or that the holder will be promised a high credit limit but will be charged an unfairly high insurance coverage for it. Make sure to check what options are available for the long run and not just for the first few months after the sign up. A credit card should be a convenient money management tool, not something that would cause more trouble.

Listen, we have been studying the effects a reverse phone directory free service can have on everyone out there. This is such a hot topic on the Internet right now that everyone pretty much knows that this service is not free. It is simply a way to get you to their site and eventually pay for the reverse phone directory’s full report. So this is what we are going to focus on today.

Below you will find various reasons why you should spend the little money they ask for instead of trying to use the reverse phone directory free. This will allow you to understand how this service has more upside even in the short term. Then again, if you feel that all you need is the city and state (which is what the initial report gives you), then stick with the free version. If not then take a look below.

Getting a Physical Address

This is a great benefit for many reasons. If you are a business owner and have been looking into hiring someone for a new position, knowing where they live is a fantastic advantage. Granted, they probably already put this in their application, but with the paid version you will find out an actually residence history that can go back as far as four years. In the end this will give you a sense of their longevity with the company.

Learning about Neighbors

Many people do not find this to be a benefit to this program. After all if there is no point to this then why not just use the reverse phone directory free version? Then again, if you are worried about issues such as sex offenders around a specific area and only have a relatives phone number to use, you will still be able to get access to their information with the paid version of the reverse phone directory.

The Creditor Companies

Think about this one for a minute. What if you or someone you know works for a creditor. Maybe they get bonus commissions for finding people who have seemed to fall off the face of the earth. Having an old phone will not do you any good with the reverse phone directory free version. However, since the paid version has the ability to look up old phone numbers you could end up increasing your income by using this service.

Finding More Information Than Some Would Like

Our favorite has to be for those of you looking for a little background information on someone you just met. Utilizing the premium reverse phone directory will allow you to get access to other household members. This means you can find out if they are married, have children, or still live with their parents. Then you might be able to make a decision about them before you get to far into a relationship.

Getting excited about the upcoming Christmas season? The music has already started on the radio and the stores are already putting out their Christmas gear. You hear the bell of the Salvation Army volunteer and the holiday deals are already in full swing. Some people wish it would come sooner - especially your kids - but unfortunately we just have to wait. One way to bring the Christmas spirit into your house so you can enjoy the holidays and make it last a little longer is to decorate your entire home for Christmas.

Many people like to decorate for Christmas, but too many people just focus on one or two rooms. Usually the room that has the Christmas tree will also be decorated festively, but if you want to have the holiday spirit all around your house, think about decorating each and every room in your home for Christmas.

Most families put their Christmas tree in their living room or family room, so why not focus on other rooms of the house? Let’s take a look at your bathroom. Face it, the bathroom probably gets used just as much if not more than the other rooms in the house. Since bathrooms are much smaller than the other rooms, it makes it ideal to decorate very simply and without much effort. Hang a nice Christmas picture on the wall and replace the bath towels with Christmas themed ones. A nice scented candle and a mini snowman or two and you have an instant Christmas bathroom.

Since the kitchen is where a lot of work gets done and it gets “dirty” from the cooking and eating, most people tend to overlook this room when decorating for Christmas. There are many low-cost ways to decorate this room, just like you did for the bathroom. You’ll find plenty of Christmas themed kitchen supplies - small rugs, potholders, oven mitts, plates - and if you do some smart shopping these things can be picked up for just a few dollars. If you want to add an extra special touch for your Christmas guests, bring out the Christmas silverware, although this can be more expensive. Many stores have matching bowls, cups, and plates that have all sorts of Christmas themes on them. Plus a nice jar candle on the stove adds a nice touch (and smell!) to your kitchen.

If you have kids, don’t forget the individual bedrooms. Too many times we focus on the main few areas of the house and forget the rooms with less traffic like the bedrooms. You can hang Christmas lights around a closet or dresser, or even around the perimeter of the room to give it a great Christmas feel. Sometimes the lights can be too much, especially for younger kids, but you can still decorate with a mini Christmas tree, a Christmas picture on the wall, or even something as simple as some holly on the door, or a stocking hung on a mirror.

Now that the inside of your house is decorated, why not think about decorating the outside of your house as well. Most people get in the Christmas spirit simply by stringing a row of Christmas lights around their house. You can hang them from the gutters, or be more creating like putting them on bushes or trees, or around your front door or garage. There are different sizes and colors of Christmas lights that should fit whatever look you are trying to achieve. Inflatables have been popular in recent years, too. Why not have a giant Rudolph, Santa, or Frosty the Snowman welcoming all to your home.

There are many ways that you can bring the Christmas spirit into your house. You can decorate every room in your house as well as the outside of your house. It’s a very popular way to spread the holiday joy. But if you just want to keep it simple and have a nice tree and a few decorations, then that is what you should do. After all, everyone celebrates differently. You should choose what is right for you.

There is something about the goodnight rhyme “Sleep tight don’t let the bed bugs bite!” that people should know – bed bugs are not a myth and boy, can they bite!

These tiny 6-legged insects grow up to around half a centimeter long and are reddish-brown in color. The infestation of bed bugs in a home normally takes time to be discovered as these suckers hide during the day and only come out when the lights are out. What’s more is that when these insects bite, they release a chemical that numbs the skin and impedes the person from feeling anything while the bugs are doing their business.

The most common indication of bed bug infestation is having tiny red bites on the skin. Clustered red spots or bites in a linear order is a sign of repetitive “feeding” by a single bug while red spots in different parts of the body is a sign of several bugs feeding on a person’s blood. Disgusting as it sounds, bed bug bites are usually harmless but it is best to eradicate these creatures from a home as there are instances when they cause more than just a bite.

The first complication of bed bugs is allergy. After repetitive bites, a person is susceptible to develop an allergic reaction that manifests on the skin. A common symptom of allergy from bed bugs is the presence of skin inflammation, similar to a blister, a cluster of tiny pods of pus, rashes or a larger round patch of itchy skin! As bed bugs target any mammal, there is also a chance for bed bugs to transmit disease.

There have been cases when Hepatitis B and Chaga’s disease were transmitted to human by bed bugs. With the current trend of globalization the risk of transmitting different diseases through bed bugs is higher. As bed bugs can travel in suitcases and articles of clothing, Western countries that once thought they have eradicated bed bugs are now at risk again. Another factor that contributes to this is that the pesticide DDT that was once used to eliminate bed bugs has been proven to have negative effects to human beings as well and have been banned from usage. Current pest control only targets specific rodents that normally exempt bed bugs.

While bed bugs can survive in all types of climates, tropical countries run a greater risk of bed bugs infiltration. Hostels and other shelter facilities with a high turnover of inhabitants are also more prone to bed bugs; this includes households with pets that roam around the neighborhood.

There are steps to avoid bed bugs infiltration. Bed sheets, night wear, pillows, stuffed toys and other items on the bed should be washed regularly in water with a temperature of at least 36 C. Cracks on the walls and the floor must first be sprayed with insecticides and then sealed. When traveling, inspect hotel rooms for signs of bed bugs, to be safe, wash all clothes used in the trip with warm water and vacuum the luggage in case the bed bugs are there. Bedrooms must be kept clean at all times, bed sheets must be changed regularly and clothes used outside must go straight to the bin – do not sit on the bed with used clothes or place bags, books, laptops and other items that have been on different surfaces! You never know when a bug or two have hitched home with you.

You hear it from your friends and from business colleagues but have not much idea what it means. Affiliate marketing is not as complicated as it seems to be. It pretty much gives away the dynamics of the advertising model through its name – it is, technically, marketing through partners and affiliates. It is a form of taking care of your advertising workload through outsourcing them to partners who really thrive on such business, and are professionally reliable in bringing promotions, referrals, and customers to your business.

How does affiliate marketing go? These are some basic components of the advertising model that has been made possible online.

Sharing of sales: You are owner of the business will share the revenues of all the sales that you would acquire through the referrals and links of your affiliate marketing partners. The partner, through a website or whatever advertising scheme it is comfortable working with, shall get in touch with potential customers and lead them to a link to your website. Upon the referral, your business shall be coordinating with the customers and take care of their inquiries and business transactions. From the sales that you will be able to get, your partners shall have a share for their services.

Payment schemes: How do you actually share the sales with your affiliate marketing partners? The payment arrangements could differ, and you could arrange for the terms with your partners as necessary. One compensation form is through the number of clicks the potential customers make in the ad or link from your partners website. The second option is through leads, wherein the customer shall enlist in the affiliate’s website and the payment for the registration would be deposited immediately in shared principle. The third mode is through sales, which happens when an actual sale is done through the referral of the affiliate to your business.

Determining the best scheme: In any form of business transaction, the idea is always mutual benefit. If for instance, the ad placement has stayed for a couple of weeks in an affiliate’s site but he does not get compensated for it, then it could strain the relationship. But if ever, you are too lenient with your compensation mechanism, then you might end up losing money without acquiring any sales. The principle is finding a balance between the interests of your business and your affiliate marketing partners. View every partnership as a potential for a long term business relationship.

The items listed above are only some items that you could adhere to when setting up the affiliate marketing business relationships. Although there are more components of the advertising scheme, those mentioned at least would give you an idea how to proceed. Now, you would be ready to get online, set up your website, and find the partners that would help you expand your business and earn more money without the hassle and fuzz of doing the advertising yourself. Maximize your time in building up new products and services, and making your business more attractive for partners and potential customers alike.

If you are looking out for a destination that offers you mountains, beaches and sea simultaneously along with a vibrant culture, then Puerto Vallarta in the Pacific coast of Mexico should be your choice. Cobblestone streets, lush marine life, great golf courses, five-star resorts and gourmet restaurants add up to the charm and class of this highly popular vacation spot.

Puerto Vallarta stands at the mouth of the Banderas Bay, on either banks of river Cuale. This bay is one of the largest and deepest in the world. This bay is surrounded by hills seeped in green, which reach up to the high Sierra Madre Mountains in the east. There are a number of golden beaches around Puerto Vallarta, as well as some quaint little fishermen’s villages located snugly among the hills.

The Bay of Banderas is known for its vibrant aquatic life. A variety of multicolored tropical fish can be found in the waters. Humpback whales, sea turtles, dolphins and huge Manta rays inhabit the waters. This variegated marine life makes Puerto Vallarta a popular destination for snorkelers, scuba divers and sports fishermen.

Other activities one can get engaged in, when at Puerto Vallarta are hiking, mountain biking, traversing the jungles on horseback, canopy tours, and jeep safari. Rental of equipment for surfing, wind surfing, para sailing and fishing are available at the beach shops. Those who are interested in nature can take part in Turtle watching and repatriation programs to save the Mexican turtles. One can also visit the Sea Life Park by Dolphin Discovery where there are options of swimming with dolphins as well as watching dolphin and sea lion shows. For those who wish to stay away from any of the above activities, there are a number of party cruises to sail around the bay.

For the artistically oriented, there are a number of art galleries and displays, theaters and a variety of live music shows. Cuban, Latin American ethnic, Ranchero, Mariachi, Marimba, pop, rock, jazz- you can have a taste of all while savoring Mexican cuisine at the beaches.

When it comes to sufficing your gastronomic desires, there are a number of options to choose from - from small Taco stands to plush rooftop restaurants. The cuisine is interesting and varied, just like the culture of Puerto Vallarta.

Nightlife comes alive in downtown bars which offer live music, piano recitals and dance floors. There are a number of them in areas of Old Town and Malecon as well.

Accommodations are available for all budget ranges, starting from expensive condominiums to bread-and-breakfast apartments. There are some very good shops to buy liquors and wines, traditional Mexican cotton clothing, Huicol art and authentic Cuban cigars.

While deciding to go for a dive, do not leave your passports, cameras and other valuables on the beach. It only encourages theft. Follow the warning flags on public beaches. There could be a strong undertow or rocks under the water.

Hangovers are usually a pain, causing a person to feel nauseous, dehydrated, lethargic, and most of the time, a victim of a really big headache. The culprit responsible for all these symptoms is the same stuff that makes one enjoy alcohol: Ethyl alcohol. Ethyl alcohol makes the drinker happy when he or she is consuming alcohol, and sad the next day, as the body is trying to get rid of all the poisons induced through too much drinking.

The good news is, hangovers are not only curable but they are also preventable. One of the most important cures to hangover also prevents it from happening: water. Usually, people do not consume the recommended intake of about three liters a day, thus leading to dehydration which causes headaches. Make it a goal to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and monitor yourself by tallying how much you have already consumed.

Another way to prevent hangovers is to eat a big, fatty meal. While this is not an entirely healthy option especially if it will be done all the time, the fat from eating a greasy meal like cheeseburger and fries slows down the absorption of alcohol, giving the body ample time to process out the bad toxins.

Hangovers can be avoided when drinking. Drink water or a non-fizzy soft drink in every two drinks to slow down the consumption of alcohol. If possible, avoid carbonated or fizzy alcoholic beverages as these kinds speed up the flow of alcohol to the blood, making one drunk faster.

Should one wake up with a hangover the next day, the safest and most reliable cure is to drink plenty of water. Water re-hydrates the body, replenishing lost nutrients and flushing away the toxins. Fresh fruits or fruit juices are also a big help as they are rich in electrolytes such as vitamin C and potassium. Vitamin C is important as it speeds up metabolism, helping our bodies rid itself of alcoholic effects more quickly. Eating foods rich in antioxidants such as lemons, oranges, broccoli, leafy green vegetables can help livers and kidneys to function properly as these foods are high in antioxidants and rich in vitamin C. Try to avoid beverages with caffeine such as coffee and cola—they can cause more dehydration instead of helping the body recover.

When headaches begin or the nauseous feeling is overwhelming, it is tempting to take painkillers to relieve the pain. Try to avoid them, as painkillers will not help your liver—it will only stress it out more as the liver may treat the medicine as an enemy.

Some might say that drinking again will cure hangovers, but this might not be effective for most people. Having another beer or a shot will just postpone recovery time for the body, and may further stress out the liver by giving it more alcohol to process instead of helping it function properly. Instead of reaching for another drink, go out and get some fresh air, or get some rest.

The best way to really avoid a hangover is to drink moderately. Do not drink more alcohol if you already feel woozy. Always remember how awful a hangover feels—this way, you’ll really avoid drinking too much.

One of the most popular vacation destinations in the interior United States is the Great Lakes area. Actually, as the Great Lakes are made up of Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Ontario, Lake Huron, and Lake Erie, it is technically five of the most popular vacation destinations in the United States. Besides being great places to go on vacation to, the lakes are also a well used resource for both business and pleasure by the local people in the area of them. From shipping to recreation, the Great Lakes are some of the most used bodies of water in the world.

While the Great Lakes are surrounded by some of the most populated regions in North America, they are also somewhat overlooked as a vacation destination. From recreational pursuits like boating and fishing to historical and more urban pursuits like those found in Chicago which sits on the shores of Lake Michigan, the Great Lakes are packed full of the kinds of things to do that will entertain and occupy almost every traveler to the area. A great deal is known about these beautiful and massive natural resources, but here are ten things you may not know about the Great Lakes.

1. In late 1913, an incredible storm hit Lake Huron and ended up driving more than twenty ships ashore, causing ten ships to sink, and causing the death of more than 220 seamen.

2. Lake Manitou sits on Manitoulin Island which resides in Lake Huron; no where in the world is there a larger lake that sits within a lake.

3. The deepest of the Great Lakes is Lake Superior which has been measured in places to be more than 1,300 feet deep.

4. Lake Michigan is the only body of water that is part of the Great Lakes and also sits completely within the borders of the United States of America.

5. Of all of the lakes making up the Great Lakes, the lowest is Lake Ontario which sits several hundred feet below all four of the other lakes.

6. Since Lake Michigan and Lake Huron are separated by straits and not a river and both have the same surface level, many scientists consider them to be one lake and not two individual bodies of water.

7. Though most would not think so, there are more than 35,000 islands located in the five Great Lakes.

8. There are more than 200 rivers that drain into Lake Superior.

9. Lake Michigan is slightly larger than the entire country of Croatia.

10. With an average depth of just 62 feet, Lake Erie is the shallowest of all the Great Lakes; Lake Superior is the deepest with an average depth of 483 feet.

The Great Lakes play an important role in the life of everyone that lives nearby to any of them. Besides being important to the shipping industry as well as being a major tourist attraction, historically speaking few things encouraged the growth and expansion into and around the Great Lakes region like both the lakes themselves and the waterway they partially provide that goes all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. Few people who have visited the Great Lakes can deny their massive beauty or the benefits they provide to the area. The Great Lakes truly offer something for everyone, whether they live near them or not.

Webkinz toy pets are some of the more popular toys sold in stores all over the United States. These toys are so cuddly that you will easily forget that they are not real. Produced by the Ganz toy store based in Toronto, Canada and launched back in 2005, these toys have taken the public by storm and have now become as popular as the Cabbage Patch kids toys.

Webkinz toys were originally designed for five to seven-year old kids. However, it has been noted that a good number of adults also buy them as collector’s items. Even more interesting is the fact that all toys come with special codes upon purchase. These codes are written or printed on the tags of each toy pet. These should be kept a secret, as they will be used by the owners to access the Webkinz World online site. Through this site, owners are able to adopt a virtual version of their own toy pets. In addition, they can do certain things for their online pets, like groom them or feed them. They can also customize and redesign their virtual pet’s room through this online access.

The codes were especially developed by the Ganz toy company to make their customers enjoy their toys more. The adoption of virtual pets can easily be done online with the help of a “Ms. Birdy” character that will guide users throughout the process. Moreover, toy owners will be the ones to select what name and gender they would like their virtual pets to have. An online adoption certificate will likewise be provided as soon as the process is culminated. This can be printed by the toy owner if he opts to. The special code that comes with each Webkinz toy also enables toy owners to shop for things that may be necessary for the survival of their virtual pets.

All Webkinz toys have special codes so if you happen to buy one with no code at all, you can return the toy and have it exchanged for another one. Usually, these codes are placed on the tags of the toy pets. If you cannot find any code in your tag, it might be found on the ankle of the toy. These special codes can no longer be replaced so make sure that you store it in a safe place so nobody else would be able to access the Webkinz World website using your code.

Google’s YouTube continues to dominate the world of online video, and Hollywood film studios are beginning to sit up and take notice. Despite competition from upstarts like Hulu.com, YouTube’s enormous popularity (the site recorded over 81 million visits in the month of September) is making it a very attractive partner for the studios.

Case in point: Monday morning MGM Grand finalized an agreement with Google to distribute full-length feature films and television shows on YouTube. MGM will begin the partnership by offering episodes of “American Gladiators” and a selection of feature films from the company’s archives.

Like all other YouTube content, the MGM Grand offerings will be free, but paid advertisements will accompany the videos. Over the past year YouTube has been increasing the number of videos with advertisements. Most of the ads appear as small rectangles on the bottom of the screen and can be “clicked away” by the user. However, the MGM films and television programs will have embedded advertising directly on the video.

In fact, the subject of advertising has been a tricky one for Google when it comes to YouTube. The site’s roots as an independent, democratic-style video portal gained it a huge following early on. When YouTube was purchased by Google in 2006, the company tread very softly at first, and was careful not to make any changes to its advertising policy that might offend YouTube’s loyal viewers.

According to the New York Times, Google is now openly courting TV networks and film studios to contribute original programming to YouTube. The MGM deal represents a major step forward in this process, and it is likely that other major film studios will jump on board in the near future. The sheer number of viewers on YouTube in any given month makes the site irresistible to production houses looking to “re-purpose” their older titles, or even test market new ones.

And although the most common YouTube videos are still user generated content, more and more, professional filmmakers and producers are contributing original material to the site. One noticeable change over the last year has been the increase in long-form videos, as opposed to the usual 5 to 10 minute user-generated clips. The MGM films and television shows, for example, will all be shown full-length, and will be available in YouTube’s new “theater view.”

The influx of Hollywood studios and TV networks to YouTube represents a major shift in the way people watch television and films. With more major studios likely to follow in MGM’s footsteps, YouTube is now poised to become the premier film and television network online.
