If you like to control what goes into the bath products you use, consider making your own body wash. You can make body wash in the scents you like and with regards to any sensitivities of your skin. Of course, you can save some dough at the store by making your body wash at home rather than spending $3 or more each time you need a new container of body wash.
For a simple method to use to create homemade body wash, you should gather some shampoos (not scented) or a liquid soap base. The shampoo will work well if you don’t want to go on a search for the soap base. You will need essential oils in your desired scents. For some types of body wash you will also need olive oil, Shea butter and/or aloe vera. .
Make certain that the essential oils you use are body oils so that the ingredients do not cause irritation to the skin. Open your unscented shampoo or soap base. Take about 30 drops of your oil to stir into the base. This will add scent and color to your soap. Popular essential oils for use in homemade body wash include: lavender, vanilla, jasmine, rosemary and peppermint. If you want a body wash that will help you to relax (especially before bedtime) mix lavender oil with your soap base or try vanilla scented oil.
If you want to be energized by your body wash, you can try rosemary along with peppermint or one of those ingredients on their own. Jasmine is another essential oil that will make you feel fresh and ready to start your day. Citrus scented oils are popular as well for a natural scent that is not too overbearing. Aloe vera can be added to a mix of body wash to provide a moisturizing property.

What a great idea! We have no idea the amount of chemicals that go into the stuff we buy, so this is a great way to stay healthy as well as save money!

Surely if we are making our own body wash, then using a pre-made shampoo as the base kind of defeats the main purpose of not having to buy it and knowing what goes into it?

if i’m concerned about what’s in my shampoo or body wash, why would i use an unscented one as an ingredient in a homemade body wash?
you should redo this and instead, recommend using castile soap as an ingredient….like you said, spending $3 or more each time you need more, yet you’re still having to spend that on unscented wash, not to mention the other oils and what not…
so if we go by your directions, we’re losing big money. gee, thanks.
