This recession has been devastating to a large amount of our population. However, there are still many people who are secure in good jobs, live in a nice home, and have some extra money to spend on the advantages that can be realized even in the middle of hard times.
Because many people and companies are having a difficult time, it presents an opportunity for those who have the funds to make unbelievably good buys in whatever category they are looking at.
Whether it is a major purchase such as a home or a luxury car or a small business, sellers are much more apt to come down on their selling price because they have gotten anxious and are afraid they may not be able to sell. So the opportunity is there to make a very good purchase.
That is especially so if you are a good negotiator and can wait out the time it might take for the sellers to realize that they should accept your offer because it might be the best one they will get. You have to be willing to walk away if there is no way of “meeting in the middle” when it comes to the final price.
It is important for you to review your finances and decide what amount you can really spend on your purchase and then go looking for your desired item in that price range.
Research on the web what the item is really worth on a site such as eBay or Craigslist and the like. Print out that information to use as a negotiation point when the time comes. This is the time to haggle over price and convince the seller that the economy is bad, there is a lot of competition in selling that item, and ask how much longer the seller wants to wait to sell.
You can also negotiate on services that you want performed whether it is your lawn service, cleaning crew, electrician, plumber, or construction of a new addition on your home. So many crews are hungry for work and hopefully will see the benefit of making a little less money but having some business after all.
Many women realize that it is easier to go into their own small business if they are careful about the amount of financing involved and being innovative in that department and in the item or items that they choose to sell or service they perform. Being self-employed creates the flexibility of taking care of family obligations while still adding to the family income at such a crucial time.
Businesses can take advantage of the recession by analyzing where expenses can be cut and the many ways money can be saved in both big and small ways. This is the time for employers to make their businesses more efficient and yet stay customer-friendly to keep their clients happy and serviced properly. The business owners should also review their financing and make sure they are getting the best interest rates that are possible in order to keep their companies afloat.
